Privacy Policy

Overview

The Sikh National Archives of Canada (SNAC) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through our website and how we use it. We comply with applicable Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information We Collect

When you use our public forms — contacting us, requesting the digitization of a physical item, or submitting a book review — we collect the details you provide, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message.

To protect these forms from spam and abuse, we also log the IP address associated with each submission and use it for rate limiting. Submission IP addresses are retained for up to 30 days for abuse prevention, after which they are automatically deleted. They are not used to identify you personally and are not shared with third parties.

How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your enquiries and digitization requests.
  • To display reviews you choose to submit, under your account display name.
  • To prevent automated spam and abusive use of our public forms.

Your Rights

You may request access to or deletion of the personal information you have submitted by contacting us at info@sikhnationalarchives.com. Rate-limit logs are automatically purged after 30 days, but we will remove any retained submission record at your request where applicable.
